Este lunes el surfista costarricense Carlos Mu\u00f1oz inici\u00f3 su competici\u00f3n por la defensa del t\u00edtulo en el Barbados Surf Pro, un torneo de 6000 puntos de la regi\u00f3n norteamericana de Qualifying Series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Para este evento se cont\u00f3 con la participaci\u00f3n de11 surfistas costarricenses, entre los que destacan Carlos Mu\u00f1oz, por ser el campe\u00f3n defensor y Leilani McGonagle, que logr\u00f3 el tercer lugar en la \u00faltima edici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En el primer d\u00eda de competencia tuvieron acci\u00f3n Cali Mu\u00f1oz, Esteban Chaves y Tomas Pathenay, todos superaron la primera ronda. Mu\u00f1oz avanz\u00f3 en primer lugar combinando olas de 6.83 y 6.63 (total de 13,46 puntos), Pathenay registr\u00f3 la mejor ola de la ronda, con un 7.10 y la respald\u00f3 con un 4.57 (total de 11,67 puntos), mientras que Chaves logr\u00f3 su clasificaci\u00f3n con maniobras de 4.10 y 1.70 (total de 5,80 puntos).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ellos tres se suman a Jairo P\u00e9rez, Andreas Schneider, Ethan Hollander, Tosh Talbot y Darshan Antequera que ya estaban sembrados en segunda ronda, adem\u00e1s de Sam Reidy que espera en ronda 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En open femenino, la primera en competir ser\u00e1 Rachel Ag\u00fcero, mientras que Leilani McGonagle espera sembrada en ronda 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La ola de Soup Bowl, en Barbados, tambi\u00e9n recibe a la categor\u00eda junior del evento, donde Costa Rica tiene a tres representantes: Ethan Hollander, Tomas Pathenay y Rachel Ag\u00fcero, de ellos s\u00f3lo Hollander logr\u00f3 avanzar a ronda 2 y se mantiene en competencia en las dos categor\u00edas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Barbados Surf Pro se extender\u00e1 hasta el 1 de marzo. Leilani McGonagle (6) y Sam Reidy (23) son los ticos mejor ubicados en el ranking de la regi\u00f3n, en busca de clasificar a la Challenger Series de 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
